Laurie's Life (Denver Style)

See how our family is doing since moving from Cali to Colorado

Is it Monday already?

Yesterday we had a very nice day. Usually for Easter we go to my MIL's house. She decorates eggs with the kids. She sets out an egg hunt for them. She cooks. It still somehow always ends up being stressful. Yesterday was the first real holiday we've had since we've moved (we went back for Christmas so that doesn't count). While we missed the family and our kids really missed playing with their cousins, it was also very relaxing.

I made Easter bags for the kids (with some stuff my MIL sent which was very nice). They were so excited to wake up to them since they never have LOL. Then my husband and I hid 30 eggs and sent the kids off to find them. One is still missing. We have NO idea where it is. I said that at least it wasn't a real egg. My lovely 9 year old pointed out that if it were, at least eventually we'd find it. She has a point.

For dinner I made this and this and this and my 9 year old made a cake which we cut out into the shape of an egg and frosted and decorated. Gotta love allrecipes.com. Everything was wonderful.

How was your weekend? Anything fun (or yummy) had by you or your family?

We had a 16lb ham. lmao mashed potatoes, red eye gravy, deviled eggs, home made rolls, pink poofoo, and my mother in law made pineapple upside down cake.

Easter was a solitary holiday for me this year -- and after the week I had, it was a welcome feeling -- I was bad and got my favoritest, unhealthiest item on the Chinese takeout menu and watched Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters in my jammies. Heaven.

I'm left handed, and I can assure you I'm not gay. I'm also ambidextrous, does that make me bi? Oops, wrong post. Nothing real fun happened this weekend except the usual Easter dinner with the wife, mother-in-law, etc. etc. etc.

We kept forgetting that it was a holiday actually. But we rallied last night and colored some eggs. I put up photos on my blog of my son's.... er, rather atypical egg decorating.

Burfica~ Sounds like a lovely meal (I think I'm still stuffed from mine. Could be the leftovers I ate last night though.) I must ask though. What is pink poofoo?

Donsie~Right now, as I post this, it is Tuesday at 8:30 am. You are welcome to visit anytime. I cook all the time. If I didn't, we'd be broke.

red7eric~ That does sound like a most wonderful way to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord. Amen. ;)

    Kelli~ Done

Julie~ I know and I did. I'm not sure about the bacon fat though.

Trapped~ Howdy neighbor! I wanted the burger. Dh wanted the meatloaf. He swears he still has gas from it. If this is true I will NEVER let him eat buffalo again. Because really it's been nasty around here. Oh yes and please do update your blog LOL. And thanks :)

Jr~ Yes you are definitely bi. You should have that check out ;)

Chuck~ I know right? It has revolutionized the way I cook. Well maybe not so much but it's made me try different stuff. Oh and I left off the coconut. Because I couldn't find it when I got home from the store.

Laume~ I will have to go check that out. I was not brave enough to do the eggs with my children. I know. I'm a crappy mom. It's ok.
